The Gallery Apart
The Gallery Apart apre il suo primo spazio espositivo a Roma in Via della Barchetta 11 nel febbraio 2008. Nel dicembre 2009 si trasferisce in Via di Monserrato 40 e poi, nel marzo 2013, nell'attuale più ampio spazio di Via Francesco Negri 43. Uno dei principali campi di interesse è quello relativo al rapporto tra etica ed estetica. Alcuni degli artisti selezionati dalla galleria sono impegnati socialmente e politicamente, cercando di definire strumenti e strategie attraverso cui l'arte possa dare il suo contributo alla costruzione di un mondo più equo. Altri artisti focalizzano il dialogo tra scultura e ambiente, quest'ultimo considerato non solo in termini di architettura e spazio, ma anche in connessione con il corpo umano. Un altro argomento che non può essere tralasciato riguarda le modalità con cui gli artisti possono gestire le immagini, il filo che collega il mondo digitale alla realtà e viceversa. The Gallery Apart nasce dall’omonimo progetto culturale che, a partire dall'ottobre 2004, ha consentito la realizzazione di una serie di mostre che si sono svolte in spazi di Roma accuratamente selezionati per rispondere al meglio alle esigenze dei singoli progetti.
The Gallery Apart opened its first small exhibition space in Rome at Via della Barchetta 11 in February 2008. In December 2009, it moved to Via di Monserrato 40 and then, in March 2013, to the present wider space of Via Francesco Negri 43. One of the main fields of interests is related to the relationship between ethics and aesthetics. Some of the artists selected by the gallery are socially and politically engaged, trying to define tools and strategies through which art can give its contribute to the building of a more equitable world. Other artists focus the dialogue between sculpture and the environment, the latter considered not only in terms of architecture and space but also in connection with the human body. Another subject which cannot be omitted concerns the ways the artists can manage images, the thread which connects the digital world to reality and vice versa. The Gallery Apart is a direct descendent of a cultural project, which carried the gallery’s name and greatly benefited the gallery in terms of experience. Starting in October 2004, the project allowed for the production of a series of exhibitions which took place in spaces in Rome which were hand-selected to best meet the needs of the single projects.
