Founded in the 1970s by Emilio Mazzoli, Galleria Mazzoli represents some of the most important artists of the last decades, such as Mario Schifano, Alighiero Boetti, Enzo Cucchi, Gino De Dominicis, Emilio Prini, Sandro Chia, Mimmo Paladino, and Luigi Ontani. In 1981, the gallery held the world´s first solo exhibition of Jean Michel Basquiat, and later continued making a mark on the Italian scene introducing American artists such as Robert Longo, Alex Katz, Ross Bleckner, Peter Halley, David Salle, Annette Lemieux, Gregory Crewdson and William Anastasi, while always keeping an eye on the younger generation. In 2009, Mario Mazzoli opened a new space in Berlin. Since then, Mazzoli Berlin has broadened the gallery’s horizon to new media, with a particular focus on works in which sound is a crucial structural element. It supports artists who are known for their work in multimedia installations such as Celeste Boursier-Mougenot, Christina Kubisch, Donato Piccolo, Douglas Henderson, Roberto Pugliese, Michele Spanghero, Pe Lang, and Oscar Santillan.
