Galleria Continua opened in 1990, as the result of the initiative of three friends: Mario Cristiani, Lorenzo Fiaschi and Maurizio Rigillo. Occupying a former theatre - cinema, Galleria Continua established itself and thrived in an entirely unexpected location, far from the big cities and the well-established art circuits, in a town - San Gimignano – steeped in history. In 2004, Galleria Continua began a new adventure in Beijing, becoming the first Italian gallery to open in China and presenting a programme of international artists. Three years later, in 2007, Galleria Continua inaugurated a new site for large-scale installations - Les Moulins - in the Parisian countryside. The conviction that contemporary art can be a universal language capable of building bridges between different cultures and nations prompted Galleria Continua to embark on new paths and open a space in Havana devoted to cultural projects designed to overcome every frontier.
