MONICA DE CARDENAS

Monica De Cardenas opened her gallery in Milano in 1992 and quickly earned acclaim for showing and representing established and emerging artists from around the world. In 1993 she started showing Thomas Struth, followed by Carol Rama, Markus Raetz, Gabriel Orozco, Stephan Balkenhol and one of the most important painters of our time: Alex Katz. New artists were introduced through the years like Chantal Joffe, Barbara Probst, Benjamin Senior and recently Gideon Rubin. Several young Italian artists joined the gallery as well: Rä di Martino, Claudia Losi, Federico Tosi and Linda Fregni Nagler, who took part in the Venice Biennale in 2013. The gallery works closely with public spaces and museums in Italy, Switzerland and internationally. In 2006 De Cardenas opened a second space in Zuoz, St. Moritz in a beautiful 14th century building. Starting with Markus Raetz, it followed a remarkable exhibition by Marisa Merz, then Fausto Melotti, and most recently Chung Eun-Mo in dialogue with Etel Adn
