SPAZIO TALK - Services Centre
Photography will be given a space of its own where topical themes will be debated in a programme of meetings curated by Stefano Graziani.
On the three days of the trade show – Friday, Saturday and Sunday – a series of meetings will look at the state of photography in Italy today, examining the relationship between artists and the publishing world, the art system and its institutions. The TALKS around photography are an opportunity to exchange views with sector specialists and one of the four different events where photography takes centre stage at Artefiera 2017. The events are part of the FLOW section (www.flowolf.com), developed by Teresa Piardi and curated by Amedeo Martegani, Stefano Graziani and Andrea Pertoldeo.
Genda Magazine,(www.gendamagazine.com). Genda is an independent magazine published in Italian and Chinese by A+Mbookstore of Milan. The first issue is dedicated to the role of the body in the cultures of West and East. The works examined by the review will be on show in the exhibition “The Body as Packaging” developed by Matilde Cassani, with graphic art and exhibition plan by Teresa Piardi, and coordination by Alberto Sinigaglia and Silvia Ponzoni. The afternoon of Friday 27 will see a meeting with Genda’s editorial staff chaired by Francesca Lazzarini and Carlo Sala.
Photography is a major feature of independent publishing and this edition of Artefiera has dedicated considerable space to this sector in Printville, the bookshop on the ground floor designed by Matilde Cassani with graphic artist Teresa Piardi, and curated by A+Mbookstore in partnership with Humboldt Books. On the morning of Saturday 28, Josè Pedro Cortes, author and publisher (Pierre Von Kleist editions, Lisbon) will be talking with Stefano Graziani and Filippo Romano on books by photographers, discussing the process that leads to the publication and marketing of this genre of printed work.
Agenda Independents is the title of an exhibition developed by 8 Italian and international art galleries, selected for the quality of their research and asked to look specifically at how photography is being intertwined with the other languages of contemporary art. The invited artists all make photography the starting point for their work, combining it with a mix of different elements and ‘voices’ and giving rise to decidedly special end results that go well beyond the traditional idea and definition of photography. Agenda Independents - Courtesy Of will be hosted on the first floor of ArteFiera, and will also be one of the participants in the open debate with other exhibiting galleries on Saturday 28. Curated by Benedetta Pomini, the exhibition is staged by Matilde Cassani on a graphic art project by Teresa Piardi.
Sunday 29 will see presentations of some recent, more specifically publishing activities developed especially in the independent spaces created in Italy that have done so much to stimulate meaningful debate on art.
