Omaggio a Mitoraj è il nostro modo di ricordare lo scultore e artista che è riuscito, tramite la sua opera, a ricaricare di emozione la scultura contemporanea. Dal 2014, un intero piano della galleria di Venezia ospita permanentemente i suoi frammenti di bellezza, per portare avanti un sodalizio iniziato più di 20 anni fa e costellato di importanti esposizioni di Mitoraj organizzate dalla Galleria Contini come quella presso i Mercati di Traiano a Roma (2004) e nella Valle dei Templi di Agrigento (2011); un ciclo culminato con la mastodontica Mitoraj a Pompei (2016), sogno che l’artista purtroppo è riuscito a vedere realizzato solo dal paradiso dei suoi dei ed eroi. Un sodalizio che continua con una mostra monumentale che verrà a dedicata a Mitoraj nel complesso di Calatrava a Valencia, posticipata al 2021 a causa del COVID-19. Sono proprio i suoi Dei ed Eroi che si possono vedere ritratti in una selezione di oltre 30 opere, ora esposte nelle nostre gallerie, tra i quali figurano un omaggio al grande mecenate e imperatore Adriano, Per Adriano, e il dolcissimo Bacio dell’Angelo, che rappresentano tutta la capacità di Mitoraj di arricchire la superficie del bronzo con patine, rendendola sempre unica, sempre diversa. Attraversando poi un breve corridoio si viene avvolti dall'atmosfera soffusa di un stanza dipinta di nero, per esaltare il candore dei suoi marmi di Carrara e travertini, fra cui si erge purissimo Sonno Bianco e, ancora, Les Mains, sorella minore di un’altra coppia di mani, sempre in marmo, che si stringono nelle stanze dei Musei vaticani e che sono l’autoritratto di Mitoraj stesso.

An Homage to Mitoraj is our way of remembering the sculptor and artist that, through his work, was able to fill back with emotions contemporary sculpture. Since 2014, an entire floor of our Venice gallery hosts, permanently, his wondrous fragments of beauty, to carry on a bond that began over 20 years ago, studded with magnificent exhibitions of Igor Mitoraj, organized by Contini Art Gallery. For example in Rome, at Trajan’s Markets (2004), at the Valley of Temples of Agrigento (2011) and culminating with the colossal Mitoraj in Pompeii (2016), a dream that the Artist could only see realized from his paradise of gods and heroes. Bond which will go on with a monumental exhibition that will be dedicated to the artist at Calatrava’s City of the Arts and Sciences of Valencia, postponed to next year due to COVID-19. It is His same gods and heroes that can be seen portrayed in a selection of over 30 works, now exhibited in our galleries, including a tribute to the great patron and emperor Adrian, Per Adriano, and the sweetest Bacio dell’Angelo, which demonstrate all of Mitoraj’s ability in enriching bronze surfaces with patinas, making them always unique and always different. Walking through a short corridor the visitor then finds himself in the dim ambience of a room painted in black, to exalt the candor of Mitoraj’s Carrara and travertine marbles. Between these, rises purest Sonno Bianco and, again, Les Mains, smaller version of another pair of marble hands, that huddle with each other in a room of the Vatican’s Museums and which are a portrait of Mitoraj himself.
