Primo Marella Gallery è lieta di presentare Hate you, Love you, Fuck you, la seconda mostra personale di He Wei, un progetto di indagine della forma e del colore. Quella di He Wei è una ricerca che ci conduce ad analizzare la complessità del tentativo di spiegare fatti “estetici” e rielaborare le gerarchie del “bello”. Nato nel 1987 nella provincia di Anhui (Cina orientale), He Wei intraprende i primi studi artistici in Cina, per poi trasferirsi in Italia e frequentare l’Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera, a Milano, dove entra in contatto con una dimensione esistenziale totalmente nuova, destinata a segnare il suo linguaggio artistico nel profondo. La mostra espone un percorso di ricerca che va dal bello al brutto, dalle certezze al dubbio, dall’esteriorità all’interiorità. Nelle opere recenti si accentua l’investigazione di un tumulto emotivo, che He Wei esprime con un linguaggio molto ritmico - segni, sagome, graffi e scarabocchi, il tutto intrecciato tra le composizioni figurative / realistiche di corpi anonimi e inserti cromatici astratti che ci costringono ad andare oltre il dato visibile. Una nuova serie di sculture astratte autoportanti realizzate in ferro sono il risultato della lunga ricerca dell’artista sull’equilibrio e la perfezione formale, la materialità dell'opera, il rapporto fra artigianato e arte. Le enigmatiche strutture, protagoniste di questa mostra, riflettono una visione estetica che trova applicazione sia nel campo della scultura che in quello della pittura.
A causa delle restrizioni dovute al Covid-19 la mostra è stata chiusa al pubblico e una seconda parte della mostra è stata presentata online. Ora, con la riapertura della galleria, la mostra, aggiornata, viene di nuovo aperta al pubblico.
Fin dall'inizio Primo Marella Gallery si è impegnata nella promozione e documentazione di artisti emergenti e movimenti provenienti da diverse aree fuori dall'Europa, in particolare Asia e Africa.
Primo Marella Gallery is pleased to present the second solo exhibition of He Wei, Hate you, Love you, Fuck you, a site-specific project dedicated to the investigation of shapes, forms and colors. The artist’s research encourages the public to analyze the complexity of explaining “aesthetic” facts and re-elaborating the hierarchy of “beauty”. Born in 1987 in the province of Anhui (Eastern China), He Wei begins his artistic studies in China. He later moves to Italy, where he attends the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera in Milan, a city where he discovered a totally new existential dimension, which has eventually marked his artistic and visual language. The show presents a path of the artist's research that goes from the beauty to the ugliness, from certainty to doubt, from exteriority to interiority. In recent works, the investigation of an emotional turmoil is particularly accentuated, and it is expressed in a very rhythmic and pulsing language - signs, shapes, scratches and scribbles, all intertwined between the realistic-figurative compositions of anonymous bodies and the abstract chromatic inserts that force us to go beyond the real figure of the visible. A new series of abstract worksare the result of He Wei’s long research on balance and formal perfection, the materiality of the work as well as craftsmanship and art. These enigmatic structures, the protagonists of the exhibition, reflect the aesthetic vision of He Wei which finds application both in the field of sculpture and in that of painting.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the show was unfortunately forced to close to the public, so we opened a second part online; following the re-opening of the gallery, the exhibition has been updated and open to the public.
From the very beginning Primo Marella Gallery has committed itself to the promotion and documentation of emerging artists and movements coming from different areas outside Europe, in particular Asia and Africa.
