BolognaFiere has announced the name of the new artistic director of Arte Fiera, Angela Vettese, who is set to plot the course of the leading event for Italian modern and contemporary art.
Angela Vettese is associated professor and teacher of Theory and Criticism of Contemporary Art, director of the Master’s course in Visual art and Fashion at the Project Department of the IUAV University in Venice.
The new artistic director will be taking over from Giorgio Verzotti and Claudio Spadoni, who have successfully curated the cycle of the last four editions of the Fair leading up to and including the 40-year anniversary edition held in January 2016.

* Angela Vettese is an associate professor of Theory and Criticism of Contemporary Art. She directs the postgraduate course in Visual Art and Fashion at the Project Department of the IUAV University of Venice. Her publications include Si fa con tutto (It can be done with Everything) Laterza, Roma-Bari 2010, Arte contemporanea tra mercato e nuovi linguaggi (Contemporary Art from the Market to New Languages), Il Mulino, Bologna 2012, the Environment section for the Italian Enciclopedia. The fifth revised edition of Capire l’arte contemporanea (Understanding Contemporary Art) is currently being published by Allemandi, Torino 1996-2016.
Angela Vettese has taught at the University Luigi Bocconi (2000-2007 and 2011-2013) and has participated in the ERC commissions in 2012/2013.
She has directed the Civic Gallery of Contemporary Art in Modena (2005-2008), the Arnaldo Pomodoro Foundation in Milan (2008-2009), she has served as president of the Bevilacqua La Masa del Comune di Venezia Foundation (2002-2013) and has been Assessor for Cultural activities and the development of tourism for the Venice council from 2013-2014.
