Jörg Heiser is the Director of the Institute for Art in Context at the University for the Arts in Berlin. For 20 years, he was an editor of frieze magazine, for which he continues to write. Since 1997, he has been a regular critic for German daily newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung. His writing has appeared in many publications, and his books include All of a Sudden: Things that Matter in Contemporary Art (Sternberg Press, 2008), and the forthcoming Double Lives in Art and Pop Music (Sternberg Press, 2018). Recent exhibitions include Trailer Park (Teatro Magherita, Bari, 2010/11), and Hybrid Naples, a string of four exhibitions at Fondazione Morragreco, Naples (2013/14). He is also member of the international pop band La Stampa. Heiser is working on a book about allegories of resistance and liberation in the modern era, which takes the work of Lorenzo Lotto as one of its points of departure.
