Giulia Biafore (b. Bologna, 1992) is the director of Galleria Studio G7 in Bologna, founded by Ginevra Grigolo in 1973. In addition to its main activities, Galleria Studio G7 promotes artistic research by means of collaborations with public and private bodies.

I’ve always been very proud of Bologna: I love its enthusiasm and the energy of the Bolognese, and being able to contribute as a professional to the city’s cultural dynamism is both a stimulus and a daily responsibility. Arte Fiera is always frenetic, at times exhausting, and a real attraction for lovers of contemporary art as well as for newcomers to the art world.

Without any doubt, my most vivid memories are of Art City, a programme that perfectly links “art/territory” with “networking,” two approaches to art that I share and constantly try to pursue. Art City provides an opportunity to discover some of the city’s less-famous sites and enjoy the architectural and artistic beauties that its many curators so carefully propose every year.

You often forget the potential of your own city, and I believe that this project – which the Gallery has supported for two years – is just one demonstration of Arte Fiera’s excellence. Significant economic revenue for the city is generated during the fair, and it is essential to continue and support it. In this respect, the Courtesy Emilia-Romagna series presents the region’s collections of modern and contemporary art in the Hall, reminding everyone that Arte Fiera offers culture, not just a market.

I recently visited the Nuovo Forno del Pane project at MAMbo, and found a wonderful atmosphere of inclusiveness and transversality. I’m very attached to the Sala delle Ciminiere, where I had the good fortune to work, and seeing the space full of artists and their work surprised and stimulated me. I saw artists of different generations finally feel themselves part of a system: thinking, working and dialoguing for a shared goal that involves every professional in the art system. In the future, it would be interesting to develop this model within the structure of Arte Fiera.
