The Il Castello gallery was founded in 1964 in via Ciovasso, Milan. From the beginning it dealt with the most famous Italian and international artists of the 20th century. After moving in 1968 to its current location in Via Brera 16, it focuses on the historical periods Corrente and the Avant-garde of the 60s. It has organized exhibitions dedicated to Ottone Rosai, 1968 Filippo de Pisis, 1968, Felice Carena, 1969, Felice Casorati, 1970, Victor Vasarely, 1973 Ardengo Soffici, 1979, Mario Sironi, 1980. At the end of the ‘80 Guido Conte's sons, Adriano and Marcello, begin to take care of the activity, hosting great shows as Gianni Dova, 1997, Giulio Turcato, 1999, Roberto Crippa, 2000, Ennio Morlotti, 2002, Piero Dorazio, 2003, Joan Miró, 2006, Lucio Fontana, 2007, Giuseppe Capogrossi, 2008, Victor Vasarely, 2009, Andy Warhol 2011, Keith Haring 2011, Damien Hirst, 2013, Armando Marrocco, 2014, Mimmo Rotella, 2014, Marrocco – Eielson, 2015, Sebastian Matta, 2016. Today, remaining faithful to the tradition after more than fifty years, the gallery continues to organize group and solo exhibitions.
