Pad. 25 Stand B/5
Housed in a late seventeenth-century palazzo at the heart of Pescara, the Vistamare gallery opened in 2001. Curated by Giacinto di Pietrantonio, the inaugural exhibition was entitled “Camera Italia”. The gallery’s activities have always privileged site-specific artworks, one memorable example being the 2007 piece “Tre momenti separati in una contemplazione” [Three Separate Moments in a Contemplation] in which an earlier installation by Joseph Kosuth was modified by the juxtaposition of a work by Ettore Spalletti and a painting by Giorgio Morandi. The aim of the gallery’s director, Benedetta Spalletti, is to present a diverse range of artists – who include Joseph Kosuth, Mimmo Jodice, Mario Airò, Armin Linke and Bethan Huws – and to create novel cross-generational pairings like those of Alviani and Franceschini or Giuseppe Uncini and Isabelle Cornaro.
