Founded in Bologna in 1978 by Franco and Roberta Calarota, Galleria Maggiore g.a.m. has established a prominent role in the international art scene thanks to a selection of museum-quality works and contemporary artists, presented in intergenerational dialogues and interdisciplinary exhibitions. Unique in Italy, Maggiore g.a.m. invests in enhancing the international market for Italian artists, such as Giorgio Morandi, for whom the gallery has opened the Asian market, as well as other artists it is working to position globally. In 2024 the gallery opened a new space in Paris. Maggiore g.a.m. has numerous collaborations with International institutions, including the Metropolitan in New York, the Musée d’Art Moderne in Paris, the Museo Nacional Reina Sofía in Madrid, and has produced exhibitions from the Phillip Collection in Washington DC to the monument dedicated to Ferrari. In 2019 Calarota's family founded ACP – Palazzo Franchetti by Fondazione Calarota, on Grand Canal in Venice.
