The main purpose of MLZ art dep is to raise the viewers’ awareness of topical issues through the interaction with contemporary art. Founded in 2014 in Trieste (IT), MLZ Art Dep has received several awards for its work in exhibiting new photographic practices, conceptual photography, and digital art. From 2021 MLZ Art Dep has launched a new project, collaborating with the Wiener Art Foundation - an institution that has been supporting contemporary art in the Austrian capital for years - to promote cultural dialogue between Trieste and Austria and exhibit emerging and established artists from the German area. The two realities have created a hybrid platform for the presentation of art, combining gallery, institutional space. and artistic residency program within a historic apartment in the city-center of Trieste that reflects the cultural link between the two nations.
