Con queste premesse ha inaugurato giovedì 2 luglio SOPRA | SOTTO, la mostra che convalida il rapporto tra Prometeo Gallery Ida Pisani e Omar Hassan. Fedele ai principi di Prometeo Gallery, l'artista di origini egiziane non resta immobile di fronte a un panorama confuso per darsi tempo affinché torni a essere nuovamente nitido. Anzi, con il suo spirito combattente concretizza le idee di movimento e di azione locale. Lavorando sulle distanze e sulle vicinanze, non solo come una pratica comune dello spazio e del tempo, ma come un vero e proprio modo di vedere, Omar Hassan si cala in una posizione privilegiata, ovvero in / tra / fra un tempo che trapela negli spazi interstiziali e apparentemente inessenziali entro cui si infiltra la vita. Quando indossa i guantoni da boxe (Breaking Through); quando lascia traccia del tempo che impiega nelle sue produzioni (Timelines); quando ripete come un gesto quotidiano punti a spray spingendo verso la sintesi di street art, razionalità e irrazionalità (Injection); quando dipinge su riproduzioni della Nike di Samotracia o sui tappi delle bombolette spray (Caps), Hassan riesce nell'ambiziosa volontà di dare forma tangibile a un tempo di difficile definizione, che per definizione non può essere rappresentato né compreso. Come? Dando al corpo delle sue opere il carattere del risultato di un'addizione, ovvero la somma di azione e di idea, andando oltre la semplice descrizione di quel che accade per dare invece la possibilità di comprendere la portata estetica, la natura e la qualità̀ dei processi del suo gesto.

Faithful to the principles of Prometeo Gallery, the artist of Egyptian origin, does not remain motionless in front of a confused landscape to give himself time to be clear again. On the contrary, with his fighting spirit he concretizes the ideas of movement and local action. By working on distance and proximity, not only as a common practice of space and time, but as a real way of seeing, Omar Hassan gives the possibility to get into a privileged position, within a time that leaks into the interstitial and apparently inessential spaces within which life infiltrates. When he wears his boxing gloves (Breaking Through); when he leaves a trace of the time he takes in his productions (Timelines); when he spray-paints dots as a daily gesture, pushing towards the synthesis of street art, rationality and irrationality (Injection); when he paints on reproductions of the Winged Victory of Samothrace or on the caps of spray cans (Caps), Omar Hassan succeeds in the ambitious desire to give tangible form to a time of difficult definition, which cannot be represented or understood. How? By giving the body of his works the character of the result of an addition, that is the sum of action and idea, going beyond the simple description of what happens to give instead the possibility to understand the aesthetic scope, the nature and the quality of the processes of his gesture.
