Galleria Russo
Fondata nel 1898, la Galleria Russo è la più antica galleria d’arte moderna italiana. Nei suoi 124 anni di attività ha offerto un fondamentale contributo alla creazione nel nostro paese di un mercato dell’arte totalmente rinnovato rispetto agli standard ottocenteschi e in linea con l’assetto socio economico sorto nel dopoguerra. Nella memoria degli appassionati, il nome della Galleria Russo è inscindibilmente legato al rapporto umano e professionale instauratisi, tra gli anni ’40 e il 1967, con Giorgio de Chirico, grande protagonista della scena artistica italiana del ’900, e a una serie di importanti mostre. Dall’inizio degli anni 2000, Fabrizio Russo, bisnipote del fondatore Pasquale Addeo, ha introdotto una programmazione espositiva che alterna importanti mostre di ricerca sui maestri del ’900 storico a mostre di scoperta e valorizzazione di giovani artisti contemporanei. Nell’attuale sede della galleria – un ampio locale che affaccia le sue vetrine su Via Alibert, piccolo tratto di strada posto proprio nel cuore del Tridente, lo storico quartiere romano delle gallerie d’arte e degli artisti – è anche ospitato L’Archivio dell’Opera di Duilio Cambellotti.
Founded in 1898, Galleria Russo is Italy's oldest modern art gallery. In its 124 years of activity, it has made a fundamental contribution to the creation in our country of an art market that was totally renewed compared to nineteenth-century standards and in line with the socioeconomic order that arose after World War II. In the memory of art lovers, the name of Galleria Russo is inseparably linked to the human and professional relationship established, between the 1940s and 1967, with Giorgio de Chirico, a great protagonist of the Italian art scene of the 20th century, and to a series of important exhibitions. Since the beginning of the 2000s, Fabrizio Russo, great-grandson of founder Pasquale Addeo, has introduced an exhibition program that alternates important research exhibitions on the masters of the historical 20th century with exhibitions on the discovery and appreciation of young contemporary artists. The gallery's current location-a large room that faces its windows onto Via Alibert, a small stretch of street located right in the heart of the Trident, Rome's historic quarter of art galleries and artists-also houses The Archive of Duilio Cambellotti's Work.
