C'È TEMPO

5-7 February 2027

After the success of the 2026 edition marked by the first artistic direction of Davide Ferri and managing direction of Enea Righi, in which Arte Fiera strengthened its role as the principal event of the Italian art system, Arte Fiera will return from 5 to 7 February 2027 (with preview on 4 February) to celebrate its fiftieth edition.

With this anniversary, Arte Fiera will confirm its identity as the first and indispensable fair on the art calendar, projected toward the future while continuing to question and transform its format.

In addition, Arte Fiera 50 celebrates 50 years since the first International Week of Performance, the event that defined the state of this genre in one of its most impassioned eras, hosting an ad hoc project on performance in the spaces adjoining the fair.

Starting from these two significant anniversaries, the title of this edition – C’è tempo – refers to Arte Fiera’s long history as well as to a hypothetical future, to a history that moves forward with an evolving format that – by means of a fertile and dialectical relationship with its audience of art lovers and professionals – questions the role and identity of an art fair in these complicated times.

C’è tempo is also a reference to the idea of a warm, welcoming fair that reflects the character of its host city and refutes the claim that the fair format has become obsolete, reformulating it by means of a different way to imagine spaces and times for fruition and for relations with the public. The result is Viaggio in Italia, a new project that redesigns and enriches the Main Section by proposing a journey in Italian art through an abundant selection of works on paper, summarizing its history from the early 20th century to the latest trends. Plus: consolidated articulation of the five curated sections that accompany visitors through the fair; the large Services Center pavilion devoted entirely to publishing; spaces for discussions like the Book Talks, which discuss art books together with the artists to whom they are dedicated and their authors.

New visual identity

Arte Fiera 2027’s visual identity is closely linked to its title, transmuting time into an uninterrupted chromatic flow. An arch of red circles stand out on a deep blue background and rotate with clockwork fluidity: a silent and solid mechanism in which the fair’s history is viewed not as a series of isolated events, but as a harmonic evolution that nourishes the present.

Viaggio in Italia

Arte Fiera celebrates its 50th edition with Viaggio in Italia, a new project that for the first time involves all of the galleries in the Main Section and reinforces its role in the analysis and research of Italian art.

This systematic itinerary focuses on an Italian artist, from 20th-century masters to new generations, presenting a work on paper – watercolor, oil, tempera, pastels, gouache, as well as collage, drawing, or simple preparatory sketch – interpretable as a unique piece or single work, or as a series composed of multiple elements.

Therefore, Viaggio in Italia is a vast score that lets you travel in two directions: by reviewing and rediscovering Italian art through emblematic works and summaries of entire poetics, or unexpected and apparently minor and eccentric works, while at the same time learning the recent history of an often-underestimated support – paper – the medium par excellence of travel, and of travel in Italy, since the era of the Grand Tour.

Sections

There are five curated sections, divided between the Modern and Contemporary pavilions.

Fotografia e dintorni,” devoted to the photographic medium, is curated by Marta Papini. The section presents photography from a wide perspective, and includes post-war masters and young talents, formal research and conceptual approach, as well as dialog with other media

Multipli,” curated by Lorenzo Gigotti, explains, by means of a wide range of media and formats (lithographs, artist books, design pieces, graphics, photographs, as well as audio books and new media), how an important part of the art scene in Italy and abroad is adopting methods to increase reproducibility and accessibility with the aim of creating more open and inclusive market structures, able to attract new collectors

Pittura XXI,” curated by Ilaria Gianni, reinterprets painting as a contemporary medium in a period in which it has thundered back on the art scene, and includes a number of emblematic researches by artists of different generations, emerging and midcareer, Italian and international, from 2000 to today.

Prospettiva,” curated by Michele D’Aurizio, is dedicated to the creative research of young artists and presents monographic presentations by emerging galleries (with less than ten years of activity) and by established galleries, provided they have a scouting program.

Ventesimo+,” presenting Italian and international art from the early 20th century to today, is curated by Alberto Salvadori. “Ventesimo+” focuses on collecting, and indicates possible methods and forms in the pursuit of eclecticism and transversality, and considering the growth of every collection as a specific, unique, identifying phenomenon.

Partnership

Arte Fiera is happy to announce that BPER, the Main Partner since the 2024 edition, continues its commitment to the event. BPER thus confirms its dedication to art, culture, and creativity, convinced that these values are essential for both the public and local development as well as important means for greater social inclusion.
