Founded by Emilio Mazzoli, Galleria Mazzoli has worked with some of the most important Italian artists of the last decades such as Mario Schifano, Alighiero Boetti, Gino De Dominicis since the 1970s. In 1981 the gallery held the world’s first solo exhibition of Jean Michel Basquiat. It promoted the artists of the Transavanguardia movement. Since the 1990s it has exhibited Salvo, Luigi Ontani, Giuseppe Gallo, Carlo Benvenuto, Mario Dellavedova and American artists such as Robert Longo, Alex Katz, Peter Halley, David Salle, Annette Lemieux, William Anastasi, while always keeping an eye on the younger generation. In 2009 Mario Mazzoli opened a new space in Berlin, broadening the gallery's horizons to include new media. Over the years it has supported and promoted artists known for their work in the field of multimedia and sound installations, such as Céleste Boursier-Mougenot, Christina Kubisch, Douglas Henderson, Donato Piccolo, Roberto Pugliese, Alessandro Sciaraffa, Pe Lang.
