MAIN SECTION
Laveronica was founded in Modica in 2007 by Corrado Gugliotta. It collaborates with both Italian and international artists who share the idea of investigating the human condition, both in a public and political dimension and through more intimate reflections linked to the private sphere. Over the last few years, it has hosted the debut solo exhibitions in Italy of numerous artists, including Adelita Husni Bey, Lawrence Abu Hamdan, Igor Grubic, Johanna Billing, Uriel Orlow, Maryam Jafri, Jonas Staal and Emory Douglas, former Minister of Culture of the Black Panthers Party. The gallery regularly participates in major international art fairs and the works of its artists have been exhibited and acquired by some of the world’s leading museums. As evidence of its bond with the local community, Laveronica has also organised numerous participatory projects in the area, staging a number of major performances in public spaces, such as those of Marinella Senatore and Adrian Paci
