The gallery “Il Castello” was found in 1964 and since that time it has been exhibiting the artworks of the most important Italian and non-Italian artists of the 20th century. In 1968 the gallery was moved into via Brera 16. During that time it was focused on the contemporary art and Avant-garde artists of the ‘60s, thus, it was exhibiting artworks of Ottone Rosai 1968, Filippo De Pisis 1968, Felice Casorati 1970, Victor Vasarely 1973, Ardengo Soffici 1979 and Mario Sironi 1980. At the end of the ‘80s, Adriano and Marcello Conte, sons of the founder Guido Conte, started to display artworks of distinctly important artists: Dova 1997, Turcato 1999, Roberto Crippa 2000, Piero Dorazio, 2003, Joan Miró 2006, Lucio Fontana 2007, Giuseppe Capogrossi 2008, Victor Vasarely 2009, Andy Warhol 2011, Keith Haring 2011, Damien Hirst 2013, Armando Marrocco 2014, Marrocco – Eielson 2015, Matta 2016, Hartung 2017, Bertasa 2019. The gallery continues to display collective and solo exhibitions.
