Clarissa Ricci

She holds a Ph.D in Theory and History of the Arts (Ca' Foscari) and is adjunct professor at the University of Bologna where she teaches the System of Contemporary Art. Her research focuses on 20th century art, with a particular interest in biennials, fairs and the art market. She was a research fellow at the Iuav University of Venice studying the origins of Arte Fiera. Her international experiences include being a visiting scholar at Columbia University in New York, a Library Research grantee at the Getty Research Institute (Los Angeles), a Getty/ACLS Postdoctoral Fellow in the History of Art (2019-2020) and a consultant for the British Council. She is the author of APERTO 1980-1993. La mostra dei giovani artisti alla Biennale di Venezia (2022) and editor of Starting from Venice. Studies on the Biennale (2010) and Double Trouble. Exhibitions Facing Fairs in Contemporary Art (2020). She is the editor and co-founder of OBOE Journal as well as part of TIAMSA (The International Art Market Studies Association) with whom she is collaborating on a forthcoming volume on art fairs and on the  Bloomsbury Art Market (2023).
