The journey in the art world began in 1972 with the publication of the Edizioni Cinquantasei, which remains the cultural centrepoint for all the initiatives of the Cinquantasei Art Gallery that was founded in 1980 with advice from the director of the Bologna Modern Art Gallery, Franco Solmi. The project was to promote the Bolognese artists of the 19th and 20th century, the great Bolognese School that goes from Luigi Bertelli to Pompilio Mandelli. The books and the many public and private exhibitions held have brought national attention to these important artists once again. In 21st century, the gallery begun to work with exclusive rights with artists like Mirella Guasti and Luigi Pellanda, and to deal with renown artists like Giacomo Balla, Giorgio De Chirico, Giorgio Morandi, Mario Sironi, Emilio Vedova and others. The location in Bologna, a two store 800 square meters space, with its exhibition space, mini bar/cafè, bookshop and extensive library, can be considered as a multi-functional arts center.
