The Doppelgaenger contemporary art gallery was founded in 2012 in Puglia in Bari, in the historical center of the city. Respecting the vocation inherent in the name, Doppelgaenger travels on a double track of research. The duality of the project is aimed both at today’s investigations in the visual arts and in the experimentations of video-art, installation and performance. Doppelgaenger’s main mission is to unveil the points in common between the two interests and make them a tool for comparison and study. The gallery is housed in Palazzo Verrone in the heart of the old city: an extraordinary architectural hybrid, which over time has become a Renaissance noble palace from a medieval tower-house, today a welcoming place for the contemporary arts. Doppelgaenger is at the same time an exhibition space and living space.
