Consolidation: this is the watchword for Arte Fiera 2021, the third edition under the artistic direction of Simone Menegoi.
In the two preceding editions, Italy’s longest-running modern and contemporary art fair was almost completely renewed in terms of exhibition rules and structure. A limit to the number of artists per stand was introduced, the photography section was completely redesigned and given a strictly contemporary look, and two new curated and invitation-only sections were launched: Focus, concentrating on modern art and post-war masters, and Pittura XXI, devoted to 21st-century painting (unique on the Italian and foreign art fair scene).
The 2021 edition will consolidate the new formula, giving the public an opportunity to become familiar with, and enjoy, these new formats. Moreover, this edition comes after a very difficult year for the art world, and we believe it must respond to a widespread desire for solid and reassuring reference points.
Of course, there will also be surprises and new features, starting with the curator of the Focus section. In 2021, Focus will be curated by Marco Meneguzzo, well-known for his work on kinetic and programmed art. The section will present this and related experiences (Meneguzzo’s term is “exact art”), with specific attention to the Italian scene.
